What if the assessment makes me think I'm Wonderfully Wired too?

In our final blog of the month, we explore the opportunity for parents to discover their own wonderful wiring through the assessment process for their child.

Redeeming Journeys and Self-Discovery

Dr. Liz invites us to hold our journeys tenderly. Understanding your child’s brain might prompt reflections on your own neurodiversity, creating a redemptive and affirming experience.

Reflecting on Your Own Journey

As you learn more about your child’s brain, you might find parallels in your own experiences. This can be a powerful moment of self-discovery and acceptance. Dr. Liz encourages parents to see this as an opportunity to understand and embrace their own unique wiring.

Chance are you never received the affirmation and support you needed as a child. Worse, you may have had a very negative response to your different brain, requiring you to fit in instead of belong, and to mask instead of confidently be unique. If that's you, I'm sorry. Recognising these past experiences though painful acn open the door to self-acceptance and support. Resources exist for you too and brains are never done growing!

Supporting Each Other

Knowing your wiring can lead to a shared experience that strengthens your bond with your child. By understanding and celebrating each other’s strengths and challenges, you create a supportive and empathetic family environment.
