How to have a collaborative, proactive discussion with your kid

Once you’ve identified one or two problems waiting to be solved that you want to intentionally collaborate on with your child, your next step is to engage the child to help you understand what is causing the problem and to find a solution together.

But how do you have the actual conversation?

Dr Greene advises that we give our child a heads up that we’d like to have a chat. We want to choose a calm unemotive time to talk and don’t want to sneak up on a child making him feel cornered. Perhaps schedule a time and place to chat.
